Well my goal for the week is to finally finish my Forest Troll Girl. Gosh the poor thing has been waiting for ......oh' I don't know how long?!? Yesterday I attached her hair and made her a cane with mushrooms. Can't wait to see what else she wants.

Finally some shoes
Funny how life goes on and not every day is a creative venture. Today I finally started on the shoes. I'm real happy with how they add to the over all look of my latest Troll. It helps if you have a good book to listen to. I just finished listening to Anansi Boys. Getting lost in creating and the story. Hopefully it won't be long now that she'll be done.
Oh' almost forgot. The shoes are made from a t-shirt scrap. Then painted with Sobo glue, which dries clear and gives the shoe a little stiffness.

The Journey continues on............
Doing a lot of hand sewing on this little lady! Yesterday I started the forest. Not sure quite how to begin?!? But then it just happened.
I love how where this is going! Trees are made from a recycled T-shirt, as is the little mushroom. I think its time to give her shoes and hair and then maybe a few more forest things.

Slow and steady
Been working on my Troll. Letting the ideas come as they may, going at a slow and steady pace. I really love this process. I'm using a paper towel to create the dress. I don't have a whole lot of this fabric and need to make sure that I don't waste it. It's an over dyed piece of linen that I have used several time on other pieces. Guess I like the way it drapes.
I'll post more pics soon.

Only Time Will Tell
This unique piece is an assemblage of spare parts. Starting with the heads, the empty Mantel case and an Alarm clock that I took apart for the parts.
The front view you've seen many time as I was building this piece.
I'm totally thrilled with the outcome and thought I would share a few pics.
Here is a view of one of the sides. Oh' and yes I even used some power tools. Had to drill holes for all the parts and pieces.
Covered the back with a stiff cardboard that I covered with fabric and made a fun label for the back. Then here is the other side of the clock that I did not want to disturb, as I didn't want to loose the .50 cent mark on the side.
I will submitting this piece to Steampunk Vol. 3 and who knows maybe, just maybe it will be published. All in all this was a fun project and I want to make more.

two post in one day, two days in a row
Oh' one more thing that is the same head on the left just added color to the face and hair as the one in the previous post.
Have a great day!
Assemblage in the works
OK, so I figured the best way to start on my assemblage is one head at a time. LOL
I will finish each head give them eyes, ears, hair and whatever else I think they may need. After I get all that done, I will have them all in the Clock face.
I will try to post often.

Moving along
Thought I'd share some pics. This Troll is made while writing the Oggie instructions, but in the end he may be just a little different. Because his clothes focus more on the Steampunk Era. So when I embellish him.............he will be steampunkish.
Plus it'll give you ideas of how changing colors and embellishment can change the look very much.

Oggie, will be a pattern
We went to the Zoo, played in the sandbox out back, went on a hike at my favorite place , cooked lots of good food and the Ocean a couple of times. ;-)
Today I finally got the studio cleaned a bit so that I could start writing the instructions for Oggie. My plan is for him to be release as a pattern May 15th. Be sure to mark your calendar. ;-)Body parts are just about all sewn and then the real work begins. I'll try to keep you posted on the progress.

What I've been up to
Wow, it's almost the middle of January..........the days are flying. Well, you know last week I started a new Troll, got side tracked by knitting another hat. This one is for my daughter, sure hope she likes it. LOL If not I told her no hard feelings.
Then Monday we had some sad news. We had to put our 14 yr old kitty to sleep. That is the hardest thing to do and I hate it. I miss him very much. The house feels empty and even though I know he isn't here I expect him to come around the corner at any moment and Meow at me. ;-(My Troll is sitting on the table just like I left him/her last week, patiently waiting for the other leg.

Some times it's just a bowl of heads
Some times it's just a bowl of heads!!
I'm not feeling the Mo-Jo...........so these heads will probably roll into the trashcan. Maybe I'll work on something totally different, in hopes to get inspired.
Don't get me wrong. I like the heads, they just don't speak "Steampunk" to me. LOL

Love all the pattern pieces
FINALLY!! Today I started with the instruction for Peter the Pack Rat Troll. I'm always amazed how much thought and time goes into making the instructions. I'm taking pictures as I go, cause this may just be an on-line class too.
Does and don'ts............mishaps that happen along the way. Some good, some not so good. Others ...........well, I always call them a happy mistake.
Pattern pieces are sewn and ready to be stuffed. This is were a lot of writing and drawing happens. It's all good!! Cause it sure feels good to make something again.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Another great Flea Market!! I'm always amazed at the stuff you find?!? Wondering if there was no family to pass on the precious pictures. Today was no exception the weather was perfect. And there were tons of vendors. Some that want way too much money for their stuff, others are just happy to get rid of it. I'm one of many who will gladly take something off their hands.
I bought a box of old photos, trinkets for my trolls & a Gargoyle to set outside the front door.
I sure hope I get a studio soon, this here little bedroom is filling up fast.

UFO's
Here's a box of UFO's (unfinished Objects) It's kind of great to see the collection of heads and bodies. That have been there for a while now with good intentions of finishing them one day. Or maybe they'll stay UFO's?!? Time will tell! If nothing else it'll be my inspiration to kick start off the New Year.

Doing a lot of firsts

It seems like I'm doing a lot of first here in LA! Yesterday I drove to the Metro Link and bought my train ticked to go to Union Station. There I met Dianne who was ever so kind to take me to the Fabric district, the floral district. She showed me a lot of attractions that LA has to offer. Then we drove to Hollywood and onto Burbank!
I think by then my brain was on over load. So much to see, I'm just
amazed!
Our last stop was IKEA! I'm going to have

to go back there with my hubby so that I can do some
serious shopping. I had a blast!! Actually there'll be a lot of places I want to go back to and inspect closer.

All in fun

Just listed this here head! This one was one of my prototypes when I was making the Little Folk Trolls. It moved with me and was stuck to a chopstick in my pencil caddy.
So I decided to put some finishing touches on it and let someone else enjoy it. Wish I had brought my basket full of heads. I probably have 20 of them rolling around. Tee hee!!!
I'm slowly starting to feel like I'm getting back into the groove of things.

Peter the Pack rat

I've been toying with this idea for a while. Think it has something to do with the move and how I'm a pack rat and collector. Today I decided to do a quick sketch of my rat. Of course many times this is just a start point for me and the doll it self will go through many transformations. Because it's the doll who has the last word.
I envision to clothes to have large pockets, for all the treasures. No clue if it will be a boy or girl or how the end result will be.
I am sure of the beady eyes and very large ears, and a pink naked rat tail.
