Alice in Wonderland Characters

Here's my gang that is going to ODACA this year!  They were a lot of fun to make.  Maybe someday I'll get on the ball and make the whole Tea Party. LOL  Or not!  Time for some more Trolls.

I've been experimenting with some Eco dyeing, so I'm anxious to use some of the fabrics from that.  But first Washington DC.  Hope to see you there.  Oh' did I mention these will be for sale. :)

Today's progress

Today's progress report. I had fun adding little details here and there to the mushroom and when he sits outside, it makes it even more realistic feeling.

And I would like to mention that the Caterpillar measures 5" tall and wide.

Building the Mushroom

Yesterday I started working on building the Mushroom for my Caterpillar.  So far so good!  It too is a process of building and sculpting, only I'm using fabric and that can get a bit more challenging.  In the end it's all a learning experience.  Some of the things you like and other things you don't like so much.  So you pick and choose the ones that work.  Life is Good!

Slowly but surely

Worked on the stick for my Caterpillar today.  Wire covered with upholstery batting and nylon hose.  I then needle sculpt some details into the stick and the give a base coat of Sobo Glue and finish it with acrylic paint.  I absolutely love how it turned out.

One Stitch at a time

This is a process and what you think will work, might not! I love how with everything I do, the Caterpillar changes and evolves.  I love how he is turning out.  His jacket is just pinned, so today I will stitch it together.

Then on to the backpack.  I'll have to find a nice soft piece of leather because it'll be a very small backpack.  Oh' did I mention his size?!?  He measure 5" X 5".  Crazy hugh?!?  More later!

Caterpillar body ...........

Testing out the body I made for my Caterpillar today.  It will be covered in the green color.

I  had to put a weight in his tail so that end of him would stay down.  Another project that is really making me step out of the box and trying something new.

Then it'll be on to the Mushroom he'll be sitting on.  Let the fun begin.

Caterpillar arms all done

Four tiny arms........ what was I thinking, but I got them done and I'm very happy with how he is turning out.

I may have just enough fabric to give him a little more body.  Funny how I pick the smallest piece of Doe Suede that I have in my stash, but the color just spoke to me so I had to go with it.

I love the changes that are happening with everything that I do.

Moving right along

Moving right along on my little Caterpillar.  It's funny how if you just listen.........magic happens.  Yesterday I made hands.  He will have a total of four.  They are very time consuming, but I love how they look.  I plan on making him a jacket and a backpack.  I'm sure I will have fun with making four arm holes.

I will keep you posted!

I'm still here

Today I decided it was time to start a new Art piece.  Notice I didn't say "Troll".  Well, this one is not a Troll.  The theme for ODACA this year is "down the Rabbit hole" from Alice in Wonderland and since I plan to attend...........i must make something very special.  So I will make a Caterpillar, sitting on his Toadstool.

Here's my first attempt.  I think I will make a few more heads and see where it leads.
