Playing with paper clay

I've been playing with Paper clay the past month.  Loving the feel on getting my hands dirty.  May it be dirt or clay!  I'm taking an on-line class with Kathy Lewis.

It's been a great adventure and I'm learning new things.  Plus not to mention how addictive it is.  I started the lesson with faces.  Which was way cool!

Next I started working on some birds.  I'm having fun now.  Made five of them.  Love all of them.  Mind you they are very time consuming, because you're building them from scratch.  I love the out come of each and every one of them.

I now have to decide what I want to create next.  I still have some Paper clay left and don't want it to dry up.  So stay tuned!

Worked on "one" shoe

Totally lost track of time today.  I worked on "one shoe" today.  Now I will let it sit and ferment a bit and next week.......or tomorrow I will make the other shoe.

Feeling very please with the direction this little Troll is going in.  I'm using some of my Eco dyed fabrics and I think that makes that much more special.  

Next I think I either need to make shoes or the head.  Hmmmm.....guess I have the weekend to think about it.

Make a Troll

Well, it's time for a new Troll.  This time I'm stepping out of my comfort zone.  Started with a sketch..........

Lot's of ideas running thru my head. The plan right now is that I will start with the body.  I've never really tried my hand at wrapping a wire skeleton, so here it goes.

Not sure I like it?!?  But I will keep moving forward.  I will make some hands the traditional way.  Stay tuned!!!

Slowly but surely

Worked on the stick for my Caterpillar today.  Wire covered with upholstery batting and nylon hose.  I then needle sculpt some details into the stick and the give a base coat of Sobo Glue and finish it with acrylic paint.  I absolutely love how it turned out.
