April already

Seems like the days are flying by and no matter what happens around us.  Life just keeps moving forward.  Last week I worked on this wood board.  Scribbled on my flowers using a ball point pen.  Then filled in the spaces with Acrylic paint.  To finish it off I used colored pencils and Posca Paint markers.

Staying playful

Staying playful is not as easy as you might think.  The past couple of weeks I have been playing with paper Maché.  It's messy and a very slow process.  I'm making these 15" figures that hold a secret pocket.

They start out with two pieces of card board and/or foam board.

Covered with Paper Maché.

Painted using acrylic paints.  And lastly a little trinket in the secret pocket.  More pics to come.

Mixed Media Collage Fun

OMG!  I really had fun with this one.  And like anything, things always look easier then they really are.  I lost count on how many hours I spent trying to get this to my liking.  I'm my worst critic.  In the end I loved it so much that I framed it and hung it in my Studio.

Mixed Media Page

This is one of the pages in an old book.  I'm glueing pages together and then adding my own twist.  This page is a mixed media page. Using a magazine cut out, acrylic paint, black gesso and Gel Roller.

I'm still here

Wow, I haven't posted since I left Arizona and now I'm back.  I will post some pics of what I did this summer.  OK, so as I'm going thru my pics I realized that this could get rather lengthy.

I love the process that I learned from Jennifer Mercedes.  Scribble on a wood board with a ink pen and then using Acrylic paint, fill in the spaces.  Very freeing and fun.

Time for a little update

Wow, I can't believe that I haven't blogged since January.  Yes, I've been busy having fun and enjoying life to the fullest.  At the end of January I took a trip to Oaxaca Mexico.  Hung out with Tres Amiga's and eight other fabulous women and we played, shopped and ate.

Then I started painting a 6' X 4' Canvas that had been sitting in my garage for a while.  Long story short...........I don't know what I was thinking?!?  I had no plan, I'm just gonna put some color on it. LOL

I'm still working on this big ass canvas, but I can see the end. Here are some pics.  I'm not sure how to get them in chronological order?!?

Post is planted

Finally finished my post. It was a lot more work than I anticipated!  And there are several things I would do differently, if I ever make another.  I sealed my post with a boat varnish.  Gave it two coats and I'm hoping that it will weather nicely.  May apply another coat this fall.  Added a solar light to the top. I can't stop looking at it.  I love how it turned out.

Another mixed media piece

Side tracked again!  This all started out with a crappy 22" X 30" piece of paper.  The intent was to make some layers and then rip it up and use it on another piece of mixed media Art.

Well, I got lots of layers using paper, acrylic paint, oil pastels, and a mark all pencil.  My piece just kept evolving, not sure I can rip this up.  At least not today.

So instead, I'm having a fat quarter of fabric printed from Spoonflower.  If I like it I may have some available for re-sale?!?  We shall see.  It was a fun process and is very addicting.  Summer has finally arrived and the Studio gets pretty warm.  My Troll is sitting on the table screaming at me. ;) More later!

Learning as I go

So I finished my lesson.  I love how it pushed me to the next level of modern technology.  I call this my mixed media digital Art.

Plus learning how to use my Ipad and Procreate to Paint the girl was a new and fun experience.  I can't wait to do more.  My husband printed this off for me at work and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing it looked.

There is something about holding Art in your own two hands.  Happiness comes from all sorts of places.  Today this was my happiness!

Art project

After a week off........time to try to finish this little pice of artwork.  Her inner self says "home is where the heart is!"  I can never tell something is done or over worked.  She's getting close.

I kinda like her just the way she is, so I may just leave her how she is?!?

Life Book 2017, lesson #38

A friend of mine introduced me to Life Book 2016.  Each week you're given a new lesson.  It's all done on-line. Go at your own pace.  I really learned a lot and it was very healing too.  This year I have not done so well with keeping up.

I picked out lesson #38, may have bitten off a bit more then I can chew.  I will push thru this and see where it ends up.  Here is my WIP so far.

My hands are never idle

I've been wanting to try my hand and drawing a horse for a while now.  Inspired by one of my daughters friends, who posts these amazing pics of her horse.  I thought I would give it a shot.  I mean whats the worst that can happen, right?!?

It doesn't turn out. LOL  I'm rather pleased at how he turned out.  And yes he's not exactly like the picture, but I love him.  It's the little things in life that really matter.

Goal for the week

Well my goal for the week is to finally finish my Forest Troll Girl.  Gosh the poor thing has been waiting for ......oh' I don't know how long?!?  Yesterday I attached her hair and made her a cane with mushrooms.  Can't wait to see what else she wants.

Party Animals

Today I played and painted me some "party Animals".   I can't wait to do even more and then have a Birthday Parade of sorts.

This is it for being creative at the moment.  I'm really trying hard to get back into the studio.  Maybe the cooler days will help?!?

Summer time

Summer time is always a busy time and since my studio is upstairs, it tends to get quite warm. I really haven't worked on my troll since May.  Yesterday I pulled her out because I do need to finish her.

With that said............I will share some pics of what has been happening this summer.

I'm always making something.  Crocheting, Art, Sewing.... you name it.  I also did a little canning.  Made some yam. Attended several concerts and am just enjoying life.

So I'm still on this painting kick

So last week I started this 24 X 30 inch canvas.  Not really sure where I was heading.

Took a little mini vacation and jumped right back in.   I'm having fun experimenting with different mediums.

Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon painting.  I totally love where this is going.  Just hope I don't over work it.

Still side tracked and painting

Isn't it great when something grabs you so hard you can't stop?!?  Well this is my fifth little canvas that I have painted.  Can you tell I'm having fun?!?  I have listed them at my Etsy store.

Learning new things as I go and listening to some great audio books.  Life is good!

Side tracked again

Some days you get side tracked.  Today was one of those days.  I see all these wonderful things on Pinterest or Instagram that I want, when all you really need is some inspiration.

So I got inspired and dove in.  Love my little painting.

Slowly but surely

Worked on the stick for my Caterpillar today.  Wire covered with upholstery batting and nylon hose.  I then needle sculpt some details into the stick and the give a base coat of Sobo Glue and finish it with acrylic paint.  I absolutely love how it turned out.
